What's different about building in Beenleigh
Front carports
In newer estates, a front carport is often the only option. Logan allows it under set conditions.
Side driveways
Older homes often have room for a long carport down the side, sometimes linking to a patio out the back.
Trailers and vans
We build high-clearance carports for caravans and boats.

One car, with room to open the doors on one side.
Double carport
Two cars side by side — the most common carport.
Long double
Two cars plus a trailer, or a car and a boat.
Caravan cover
Built tall — usually 3.5 to 4.2 m clear for a caravan or motorhome.
Council rules for a carport in Beenleigh
Beenleigh is in the Logan City Council area, under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 (version 9.2).
- Carports at the front boundary
- Under the Logan Planning Scheme a carport up to 6 m × 6 m and 3.5 m high can be built right up to the front boundary without a referral application, as long as it stays fully open apart from where it attaches at the back. That is the classic double carport in front of a garage, and it is why we so often quote 6 × 6 in Logan.
- Acreage setbacks
- On acreage, rural residential and emerging community land the road clearance is 10 m and side and rear 3 m, so big sheds and carports sit back from the road.
- Flood and steep land
- In a mapped flood area a carport roof sits above the defined flood level unless an engineer certifies it. On slopes of 12% or more a geotechnical report is needed. Both are in the overlay maps we check before quoting.
