Carports Logan
Carports across Logan, including the 6 x 6 front carport that often avoids a referral.
Your carport in Logan, start to finish
The most common question we get in Logan is whether a carport can go in front of the house. Often it can. Logan allows a carport in the front setback under certain conditions, and a 6 x 6 m double carport on a typical frontage is a common example that can avoid a council referral.
We check your frontage, driveway and the street before we design, and we build in genuine Colorbond and BlueScope steel.
- One team from quote to handover, no salespeople

What's different about building in Logan
Front setback carports
Logan has specific rules for carports forward of the house. We design to them so approval is quick.
Caravans and boats
Plenty of Logan blocks have side access. We build high-clearance carports for vans, boats and trailers.
Gable or flat
A gable carport can match the house roof at the front. Flat skillion is cheaper and suits the side or back.
Which carport suits your home?
Attached
Fixed to the fascia or a wall of your home. The most common and the best value.

Flyover
Raised above your gutter for extra height, air flow and a modern look.

Freestanding
Stands on its own posts, anywhere on your block.
See freestanding carports →
Gable & hip
A pitched roof that matches your house. Attached, flyover or freestanding.

Single carport
One car, with room to open the doors on one side.
Double carport
Two cars side by side — the most common carport.
Long double
Two cars plus a trailer, or a car and a boat.
Caravan cover
Built tall — usually 3.5 to 4.2 m clear for a caravan or motorhome.
Council rules for a carport in Logan
Logan is in the Logan City Council area, under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 (version 9.2).
- Carports at the front boundary
- Under the Logan Planning Scheme a carport up to 6 m × 6 m and 3.5 m high can be built right up to the front boundary without a referral application, as long as it stays fully open apart from where it attaches at the back. That is the classic double carport in front of a garage, and it is why we so often quote 6 × 6 in Logan.
- Acreage setbacks
- On acreage, rural residential and emerging community land the road clearance is 10 m and side and rear 3 m, so big sheds and carports sit back from the road.
- Flood and steep land
- In a mapped flood area a carport roof sits above the defined flood level unless an engineer certifies it. On slopes of 12% or more a geotechnical report is needed. Both are in the overlay maps we check before quoting.
