Patios Chambers Flat
Chambers Flat is home base for us. Patios, carports and caravan covers on acreage, built by the team down the road.
Your patio in Chambers Flat, start to finish
We are based in Chambers Flat, so this is the suburb we know best. Most blocks here are acreage, and the jobs are bigger than in town: a long patio across the back of the house, a freestanding carport for two cars and a trailer, or a high cover for the caravan or the boat.
Because we are local, a measure-up is quick to fit in, and we can come back to look again if you want to change the plan. We check the council mapping for your lot before we price it, and the quote covers design, engineering, approval and the build in genuine Colorbond and BlueScope steel.
- One team from quote to handover, no salespeople
- Genuine Colorbond and BlueScope steel, all engineered
- Plans, engineering and approval handled
What's different about building in Chambers Flat
Acreage setbacks
Under the Logan Planning Scheme, rural residential and acreage lots keep buildings 10 m from the road and 3 m from the side and rear boundaries. A big shed or carport usually sits well back from the road, which suits most Chambers Flat blocks anyway.
Large outbuildings
Logan lets sheds and carports add up to 150 m² before stricter clearances and a 5.5 m height limit apply, and over 300 m² the work needs council assessment. On acreage we add up what is already there before we design a new one.
Caravans and the boat
Logan’s heavy vehicle parking law allows a private motor home or caravan on a house lot when it is the only heavy vehicle there. A tall flyover or freestanding cover keeps the sun and hail off it.
Flood and bushfire mapping
Parts of the area near the creeks and the river sit in Logan’s flood overlay, and bushland edges can carry the bushfire overlay. Either one changes the design, so we check the maps before we quote.

Tap one to see what you get.
Single skin
- The lowest-cost option
- Spans up to about 5 m between beams
- Can be built as close as 450 mm to a boundary (with approval)
- Hotter and louder in rain than insulated
- No downlights or fans in the roof
Best for: Carports, flyovers with good air flow, and budget builds.
From underneath you see the ribbed roof sheets and the steel purlins that hold them. Lights and fans fix to the beams.
Quote a single skin roof
Insulated panel
- Keeps the heat out — noticeably cooler underneath
- Quiet in rain
- Finished white (or coloured) ceiling, no visible purlins
- Downlights and ceiling fans built in
- Longer spans, fewer beams
Best for: Patios and outdoor rooms you will sit under and use all year.
From underneath you see a flat, finished ceiling, usually Surfmist, with downlights and a fan set straight into it. Thicker panels span further and insulate better.

Council rules for a patio in Chambers Flat
Chambers Flat is in the Logan City Council area, under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 (version 9.2).
- Site cover depends on the precinct
- Logan sets the maximum roofed area by precinct, not just lot size: 60% in small lot areas, 50% in the standard suburban precinct, 40% large suburban, 35% small acreage and 20% (or 700 m²) on acreage. A patio counts, so on a tight lot we check this first.

Patios Chambers Flat: common questions
Are you really based in Chambers Flat?
Yes. Chambers Flat is home base, so a site visit here is quick to arrange and we know the local blocks and council rules well.
How big a carport can I build on acreage in Chambers Flat?
Logan allows up to 150 m² of outbuildings in total before stricter clearances and a 5.5 m height limit apply, and council assesses anything over 300 m². Setbacks on acreage are 10 m to the road and 3 m to the sides and rear. We measure up and tell you what fits.
Do I need council approval for a patio on acreage?
A roofed patio needs a building approval from a private certifier, which we arrange. Council only gets involved if the design misses a setback or the site cover limit, or the lot is in a flood, bushfire or landslide overlay.
