Patios New Beith
Caravan covers, big-span carports and patios for New Beith acreage, designed for the block and the bushland around it.
Your patio in New Beith, start to finish
New Beith is acreage country. Most blocks are big, many back onto bushland, and most owners have something to keep under a roof: a caravan, a boat, a big trailer or the ride-on mower. The patio at the house tends to be long and simple, facing a view rather than a neighbour.
Big structures on acreage are about height, span and wind, and about where the block sits in the bushfire mapping. We measure the van or the boat, look at access and the ground, and price the whole job, approval included. It is an easy run out from our base in Chambers Flat.

What's different about building in New Beith
Site cover on rural residential land
In Logan’s rural residential zone, site cover is capped at 700 m² rather than a percentage of the lot. On most New Beith blocks that leaves plenty of room, but a house, shed, carport and patio together can approach it.
Setbacks
On rural residential land Logan keeps buildings 10 m from the road and 3 m from the side and rear boundaries.
Caravans at home
Logan’s heavy vehicle parking law needs a permit to park a heavy vehicle on a house lot, except a private motor home or caravan that is the only heavy vehicle there. A tall cover keeps the sun and hail off it.
Big sheds and carports
Logan lets outbuildings add up to 150 m² before stricter clearances and a 5.5 m height limit apply, and over 300 m² the work needs council assessment. A tall caravan cover next to a big shed can cross that line.

Tap one to see what you get.
Single skin
- The lowest-cost option
- Spans up to about 5 m between beams
- Can be built as close as 450 mm to a boundary (with approval)
- Hotter and louder in rain than insulated
- No downlights or fans in the roof
Best for: Carports, flyovers with good air flow, and budget builds.
From underneath you see the ribbed roof sheets and the steel purlins that hold them. Lights and fans fix to the beams.
Quote a single skin roof
Insulated panel
- Keeps the heat out — noticeably cooler underneath
- Quiet in rain
- Finished white (or coloured) ceiling, no visible purlins
- Downlights and ceiling fans built in
- Longer spans, fewer beams
Best for: Patios and outdoor rooms you will sit under and use all year.
From underneath you see a flat, finished ceiling, usually Surfmist, with downlights and a fan set straight into it. Thicker panels span further and insulate better.

Council rules for a patio in New Beith
New Beith is in the Logan City Council area, under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 (version 9.2).
- Site cover depends on the precinct
- Logan sets the maximum roofed area by precinct, not just lot size: 60% in small lot areas, 50% in the standard suburban precinct, 40% large suburban, 35% small acreage and 20% (or 700 m²) on acreage. A patio counts, so on a tight lot we check this first.

Patios New Beith: common questions
How high should a caravan cover be in New Beith?
Measure the van to the top of the air conditioner or solar panels, then add clearance for driving in. Many caravan covers end up around 3.5 to 4.2 m at the lowest point. We confirm the height at the measure-up.
Do I need approval for a big carport on acreage?
Yes. A roofed carport of that size needs a building approval from a private certifier, which we arrange. Council gets involved if it misses a setback, takes your outbuildings past Logan’s limits or sits in an overlay.
Is New Beith in your service area?
Yes. New Beith is in Logan City Council, a short drive from our base in Chambers Flat.
