A patio or carport is a big, permanent part of how your house looks from the street and the backyard. A few minutes choosing colours properly is worth it.
Start with your house roof and trims
The safest choice is to match your existing gutters and fascia, then pick posts and beams to match your window frames or trims. The new roof then looks like it was always there.
Two-tone roofs and ceilings
Single skin roof sheets come with a different colour on the underside, and insulated panels have a finished ceiling. A light ceiling — like Surfmist or white — keeps the space underneath bright, even with a dark roof on top.
- Surfmist / white — the most popular, bright underneath
- Monument / white — a dark roof with a light ceiling
- Woodland Grey / Classic Cream — a softer, traditional look
- Paperbark / Paperbark — warm and neutral
Lighter roofs stay cooler
In the Queensland sun, colour matters. Lighter roof colours reflect more heat, so the space underneath stays cooler. If you love a dark roof, insulated panels take care of most of the heat.
Gutters and downpipes
Gutters and downpipes usually match the posts or the house gutters. White or Surfmist downpipes disappear against light walls; match darker walls instead.
