A patio roof keeps off the sun and rain. Add a wall, a screen or blinds and it becomes a room — private from the neighbours, out of the wind, and usable on more days of the year.
Privacy screens and slats
Aluminium slat screens block the view from next door but still let the breeze through. They come in a range of colours and slat gaps, and can be fixed between posts on any side.
Insulated walls
For a fully enclosed outdoor room, insulated wall panels match the roof and keep the heat and noise out. Add a window or sliding door and it can feel like part of the house.
Blinds
Outdoor blinds roll down for a storm or the afternoon sun and disappear when you do not need them. They are the easy way to make a patio usable in winter.
Things to check
- Walls can change how a structure is classed for approval — ask us first
- Keep some air flow so the space does not get stuffy in summer
- Screens near a pool must not create a climbing point over the fence
- A screen on a boundary may need your neighbour and council on board
